DIY 10 MHz Precision Frequency Standard
The Starbucks chocolate canee is very suitable for diy construction of thermostated oscillator. I used one empty canee
and made precisious 10 MHz frequency standard. The installed 10 MHz oscillator is thermally isolated and EMC shielded. It delivers a sinewave signal 7V pp with 0.01 Hz resolution. The oscillator is powered by DC supply 12V. Initial consumption is about 380mA. After 20 minutes heating the consumption decreases to 125 mA.
The connected counter Racal Dana 1998 is gated with 1 sec and measures frequency signal 10.000 000 00 MHz approx. after 1 hour.
